Summer Waves 18×48 Elite Frame Pool
Our 18×48 Elite Frame Pool transforms any backyard into a summer destination. With 18 feet of diameter and 48 inches of depth, this pool provides ample space for families to splash, swim, and cool off together.
We engineered the Elite Frame system with powder-coated steel for weather resistance and structural integrity season after season. The rust-resistant frame supports the durable three-ply liner, delivering long-term value without the permanent commitment of an in-ground installation.
Setup takes just a few hours with basic tools and a level surface. The included filter pump keeps water clean and circulating, while the ladder provides safe entry and exit for swimmers of all ages.
- 18-foot diameter × 48-inch wall height provides 5,246 gallons of water capacity
- Powder-coated steel frame resists rust and corrosion through multiple seasons
- Three-ply reinforced sidewalls with puncture-resistant PVC construction
- 530-gallon SFX600 filter pump included for continuous water circulation
- Corrosion-resistant ladder with weight capacity up to 300 pounds
Frame Construction & Durability

The summer waves 18 x 48 pool features our Elite Frame engineering, which combines powder-coated steel tubes with reinforced T-joint connectors for superior stability. Each vertical support locks into horizontal rails with a snap-button system that eliminates the need for complicated hardware.
We apply a multi-layer powder coating to every steel component before assembly. This process creates a barrier against moisture, chlorine, and UV exposure that would otherwise degrade untreated metal. The frame maintains structural integrity even when filled to capacity, distributing 5,246 gallons of water weight evenly across the support system.
Water Filtration System

Every 18×48 Elite Pool ships with our SFX600 filter pump, rated at 530 gallons per hour to cycle the entire pool volume approximately every 10 hours. The cartridge-style filter captures particles down to 20 microns, removing dirt, leaves, and fine debris that clouds water clarity.
We designed the pump housing with easy-access clips for filter cartridge replacement without tools. The system connects to the pool via two threaded fittings—one for intake near the pool bottom and one for return flow at the surface. This circulation pattern prevents stagnant zones and distributes sanitizing chemicals evenly throughout the water.
Setup & Installation Requirements

Site Preparation
The 18-foot diameter footprint requires a flat, level surface with an 18.5-foot clearance in all directions. We recommend a compacted sand base or commercially available ground padding to cushion the liner and prevent punctures from stones or roots. The included ground cloth provides an additional protective layer between the earth and pool bottom.
Slope tolerance should not exceed one inch across the entire diameter. Unlevel installations create uneven water distribution that stresses frame joints and causes premature liner wear. Use a carpenter’s level and straightedge to verify grade before laying the ground cloth.

Common Questions About the 18×48 Elite Pool
Fill time depends on your water source flow rate. With a standard residential garden hose delivering 10 gallons per minute, expect approximately 8-9 hours to reach the recommended 42-inch fill line. We suggest starting the fill in the morning so you can monitor progress and smooth liner wrinkles as the water rises.
Fill the pool gradually while walking the perimeter to press out wrinkles toward the edges. This prevents permanent creases from setting as water weight increases.
A level grass lawn, compacted sand base, or concrete pad all work provided the surface is flat within one inch across the 18-foot diameter. We strongly recommend against placing the pool directly on gravel, which can puncture the liner, or on a slope that creates uneven water distribution.
Use the included ground cloth as the first layer, then add commercially available foam padding for extra cushioning. Remove any rocks, sticks, or roots from the site before laying protective materials.
We design Elite Frame pools for seasonal use in most climates. In regions with freezing winters, drain and disassemble the pool before temperatures drop below 32°F to prevent ice damage to the liner and frame. Store components in a dry location away from rodents.
For mild climates without hard freezes, some customers winterize the pool by lowering water below the skimmer, adding winterizing chemicals, and covering securely. However, disassembly extends component lifespan by protecting materials from prolonged UV and weather exposure.
During active swimming season, inspect the cartridge weekly and replace every 2-4 weeks depending on bather load and environmental debris. A cartridge clogged with debris reduces flow rate and compromises water clarity.
Rinse the cartridge with a garden hose between replacements to remove surface debris and extend usable life. When water pressure noticeably decreases or the cartridge shows tears or permanent discoloration, install a fresh replacement.
Maintain water quality with chlorine tablets or granular shock for sanitization, pH increaser and decreaser to balance acidity, and alkalinity increaser to stabilize pH levels. Test water chemistry at least twice weekly with test strips or a liquid kit.
Start with 3-4 chlorine tablets in a floating dispenser for a 5,246-gallon capacity, adjusting based on test results. Shock the pool weekly or after heavy use to oxidize contaminants the filter cannot remove. Follow product instructions for dosing based on your specific water volume.
The 48-inch depth requires constant adult supervision for non-swimmers and young children who cannot stand with their heads above water. We recommend establishing pool rules, maintaining clear sightlines, and never leaving children unattended regardless of swimming ability.
The included ladder removes to restrict access when the pool is not in use. Consider adding a fence, pool alarm, or locking cover for additional safety layers. Teach children to enter and exit using the ladder only, never diving or jumping in shallow water.
The three-ply PVC liner and powder-coated steel frame tolerate saltwater chlorine generators, though we primarily design Elite pools for traditional chlorine sanitation. If you choose a saltwater system, select a model rated for above-ground pools and monitor the salt cell for calcium buildup.
Saltwater systems produce chlorine through electrolysis rather than adding chemicals directly, but they still require pH and alkalinity balancing. Check manufacturer compatibility before purchasing a salt system to ensure proper fit with the pool’s filtration ports.
